Giveaway: Win Free Books and Discover New Authors

When I saw that over 3,000 people viewed my list of science fiction and fantasy books by Black authors, I realized readers were eager to diversify their bookshelves. I’ve partnered with talented indie authors to give away free paperback and ebook copies of science fiction and fantasy books.

We hope this giveaway will do more than get our books in new hands. We want you to get to know us. That’s why we invite you to follow us on Facebook and subscribe to our newsletters. It’s the best way to stay in touch.

Diversity is more than just black and white, and I wanted to find authors who write characters from various backgrounds. Get ready to enjoy Latino heroes who venture into the underworld, Asian heroines who face dragons, Black girls with various types of magic, and characters with disabilities who find a happily ever after.

Read about the participating authors, then scroll down to enter the giveaway.

K. R. S. McEntire lives on a healthy diet of fiction and tea. She loves art, photography and travel because, like books, they allow her to explore new worlds. She lives in Indianapolis with her husband and runs the Facebook page Diverse Fantasy and Sci-Finds, where she shares book recommendations with other bibliophiles.

K. R. S. McEntire decided to make the main character in her YA dystopian novel, Saving Eden, biracial because she’s in an interracial marriage. She’s currently child-free, but she wanted any future children who might read her work to feel represented by Angela’s character. She is currently writing an Alice in Wonderland retelling.

Books have been Kendra’s escape for as long as she can remember. She used to hide fantasy novels behind her government textbook in high school, and she wrote most of her first novel during a semester of college algebra.

Older and wiser now (but just as nerdy) Kendra writes retellings of fairytales with main characters who have disabilities. If she isn’t writing, she’s reading, and if she isn’t reading, she’s playing video games.

Kendra lives in Denver with her very tall husband, their book loving progeny, and a lazy black monster masquerading as a service dog.

Ginger loves the color yellow, baked goods, and all things Halloween. When she’s not busy playing with kids, she enjoys reading, listening to sappy pop music, and dreaming up love stories featuring brave heroines, a touch of magic, and hopeful endings. Ginger lives with her husband and two Pokemon-loving boys in sunny California. She has yet to see a soot sprite, but always keeps her eyes open just in case!

In her blog post about diversity in YA fantasy she said “Growing up I read a lot of fantasy novels. And I don’t recall many of them starring POC as main characters. (Mind you, this was back in the 90s and 00s, so that does date me a bit.) But I think teenage me (and even 20-year-old me) would have really appreciated seeing someone who looked like me on the cover.”

Brittni Chenelle is a Multicultural Fantasy author who specializes in multi-POV romances. She loves to explore the blurred lines between good and evil and believes wholeheartedly in a great story’s ability to bring people together.

When she’s not writing, she can be found at her home in South Korea where she spends far too much time consuming coffee, dark chocolate, and videos of animals doing human things.

Never one to back down from a chance to get away, she is always traveling on a new adventure and snapping pics of her escapades. A lover of animals, she is ruled by her psychotic cat overlord Sir Crookshanks! She finds comfort in listening to music, thunderstorms, dark and gloomy days, cold weather, and curling up in a corner with a blanket and a good book.
